GLACIER TONGUES, GREENLAND
The “Glacier Tongues“ landscape shows an impressive meeting of glacial ice as many tongues flow together on their paths toward sea. Glaciers are created by centuries of snowfall and move due to stresses caused by their weight. They move as extremely slow rivers. Glaciers gain mass by snowfall while their bodies are shaped by time and gravity.
As they move, they create new landscapes underneath them. They carve the surface of the Earth and bring layers of soil with them, thus creating the impressive drawings seen in this landscape.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
“Geosperical Landscapes” is a landscape project by Wild Things where planet Earth is viewed through the eyes of a satellite. The images show the impact human kind has on the landscapes surrounding us as well as the impact landscapes have on us. The landscapes also serve as a time capsule of how the ever-changing landscape and human structures looked at this time in history.
